Whitewater Ski Resort

It’s all about snow at Whitewater. This Kootenay mountain hideaway—set along the Powder Highway near the city of Nelson—has some of the deepest, driest powder around. More than 12 metres (40 feet) of snow falls on average over 623 vertical metres (2,044 vertical feet). Uncrowded slopes, family-friendly groomers, remarkable steeps, top-of-the-line tree-skiing, and endless backcountry are all found at this resort, which maintains a local ski-hill vibe.

  • Mar 23, 2020: “We loved the friendliness of this ski resort. Great terrain for all levels and abilities and the lodge is awesome. Try the yam poutine with mushroom/miso gravy-yum!” 0
  • Feb 16, 2020: “Planned a five day trip to Nelson with a plan to ski three days at Whitewater with family. First date of Skiing was great and we foolishly bought a three day ski pass. Next day we got a late start (.trying to a place to eat breakfast in Nelson was difficult, either closed or not open till 9) Got to the hill at 10:30 and parking lots were full- no parking and no skiing. No sign or notice at the bottom of the hill. We drove all the way up and around all the parking lots and were told that we were out of luck. Won’t be back again to this place. Love Nelson but not worth planning a ski holiday if you can’t ski.” 1
  • Feb 11, 2020: “This is our second trip here, the first time did not leave us with a favourable impression, but this time it was our resort of the trip. We all loved it, this time there was snow and good visibility and we all had a great day, we are glad we came again.” 2
